The musicians and groups who performed at Koktebel Jazz Party 2016 will get together to congratulate Mikhail Okun, a legend of Soviet jazz and a merited artist of Russia, on his 70th birthday.
"I'll be happy to see my old friends on stage and in the audience," Okun said.
The Mikhail Okun 70 concert will be held at the Chamber Hall of the Moscow International House of Music on October 14. Guest performers will include Sergei Golovnya, a virtuoso sax player and Koktebel Jazz Party art director, popular jazz singer Karina Kozhevnikova, Pyotr Vostokov, a trumpet player and co-founder of the Big Jazz Orchestra, piano player and singer Vahagn Hayrapetyan from Yerevan (Armenia), and Oleg Starikov, the winner of the Grand Prix of the Jazz Piano International Competition 2015.
"It is a unique opportunity to hear Soviet-era jazz masters playing together with jazzmen of the middle generation. I'm looking forward to it and invite everyone who loves good music to attend this party," said Yakov Okun, a jazz player and the son of Mikhail Okun.
